Demoss Center for Worship in the Preforming Arts
The Demoss Center for Worship in the Performing Arts (DCWPA) houses the Christian Leadership, Communication Arts, and Music departments. In the spirit of Romans 12:1, the DCWPA fosters excellence in a wide range of performing arenas as students employ their talents as acts of worship to the Giver of every good and perfect gift.
Program Overview
Christian Leadership is a program grounded in a set of core courses selected to prepare students for a wide range of vocations in Christian ministry. Each student is able to choose a particular concentration for additional course work in one of four areas: Biblical and Theological Studies, Ministry Studies, Worship Arts, or Youth and Family Ministry Studies. Each of these four concentrations can also be pursued as a minor.
Program Mission
Our mission is to prepare undergraduate students for lifelong ministry leadership. By providing instruction and practical fieldwork experiences, we strive to educate, equip, and empower students to utilize their unique gifts and talents to shape the world with the message of Jesus Christ.
Program Values
- Field experience service 鈥 We equip and empower students through practical, hands-on ministry experiences with churches and ministry organizations.
- Academic excellence 鈥 We cultivate student-focused learning environments that are collaborative, supportive, and challenging.
- Spiritual formation 鈥 We pursue growth in relationship with Christ and in Christ-like character through the practice of spiritual disciplines and participation in a Christ- centered community of learners.
- Ministry readiness 鈥 We equip students with the foundational knowledge, skills, and faith formation that will enable them to be effective ministry leaders.
- Learning communities 鈥 We believe leadership education is most effective when learning occurs in community where students encourage and challenge each other and faculty guide and mentor students in ministry understanding and practice.
