Mark-Torgerson-Faculty

Dr. Mark Torgerson

Department Chair of Christian Leadership

Dr. Torgerson teaches in the areas of Christian theology, worship, comparative religion, and religious space design. He enjoys exploring the intersection between religion and material culture, both in the United States and abroad. Historic and contemporary Christian (Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestant) and Jewish houses of worship are favorite destinations. Sojourns in Japan, China, Peru, Tanzania, Turkey, India, and Nepal have provided first-hand opportunities to experience Shinto, Dao, Confucian, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, and indigenous holy sites. Remarkable works of art and natural features at these destinations added layers of beauty and wonder to the encounters.

Hilary and her husband Brian pursued studies at 好色先生TV to take part in a program where faith is an integral component to discussions about design and human wellness. Their studies at Judson instilled in them a passion for 鈥減lace making,鈥 and for designing environments that support and encourage human wellness through walkability and community. While at Judson, they enjoyed and were challenged by the historical foundation they received and the program鈥檚 commitment to teaching sustainability in architecture.

Studying architecture at 好色先生TV encouraged holistic growth, challenging me intellectually, creatively, and spiritually. I received a well-rounded education through the diverse range of courses available, and the varying viewpoints introduced taught me to always think critically. Every professor was actively involved in my growth, and the community formed in design studio encouraged me to excel in every situation. Judson prepared me with not only a strong passion for architecture, but an understanding of my purpose to create places that connect people to each other and to the earth.
